MultiLinker

What is it?

MultiLinker is a program which automates the creation of hyperlinks within and between Word documents and optionally converts documents to PDF, HTML or HTML Help format with the links maintained.

What does it do?

• Uses configurable rules to search for and then convert Word document cross-references or URLs into hyperlinks.
• Creates links within single documents or to locations in other documents – perhaps headings or captions, or to user-defined items such as entries in a glossary.
• Audits and reports upon any broken links within and between documents.
• Converts Word documents into HTML or PDF format complete with hyperlinks and bookmarks and links are maintained over multiple files.
• Converts Word documents into HTML Help format with each heading and its text configured as a separate topic (page) in the Help file; again, links are maintained between topics.
• Operates in batch mode if required.
  

Where is it used?

MultiLinker is used when information in one or more complex documents needs to be referenced in a non-linear manner. For example checking in a Company Operating Manual on the purchase of a piece of equipment may require access to Company Standards on the item of plant, to Purchasing Procedures on placing the order, to Authority Limits for financial implications and even Health and Safety. A MultiLinked Word document, PDF or HTML file would enable quick and easy navigation between the required sections – much more effective than paper copies or even unlinked electronic ones..
